A vibrant exchange of thoughts and ideas followed the presentations with participants drawing parallels and
comparisons between the Philippines and China and examining the possible underlying factors behind the same. It was concluded that more actions needed to be done in order to promote more mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries. It was also agreed by the participants from both sides that the event indeed proved to be a step in the right direction.
PCFC would like to thank Professor Wu Jiewei, Associate Professor Shi Yang, the PKU Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, and the PKU School of Foreign Languages for making the event a great success. PCFC is interested to engage young scholars and graduate students from other cities in China for constructive discussions and raise awareness on issues that matter to both countries and the region.
This is the first of a series of exchanges between Filipino scholars and their Chinese counterparts in China. It is currently looking for sponsors who can help the young scholars engage more with other Chinese organizations. For more information, please contact the coordinators Aaron Rabena [email protected], Lucio Pitlo III [email protected], or Jean Ong [email protected].
